Established in 2016 by Florence native Leo Landini and his wife, Christine, Ristorante Illando is a charming Tuscan trattoria nestled in San Diego’s vibrant Little Italy. This area, renowned for its rich Italian heritage, offers a lively atmosphere with quaint cafes, boutique shops, and colorful street art, making it a perfect backdrop for this intimate, second-story dining room and cozy backyard patio.
The house specialties at Ristorante Illando are a testament to authentic Italian cuisine. The spaghetti carbonara, made with pancetta, eggs, parmesan, and a creamy sauce, is a favorite, as is the pappardelle bolognese, featuring a rich, homemade meat sauce. Seafood lovers will delight in the ravioli alla aragosta, stuffed with lobster and crab and topped with a luscious creamy vodka sauce. Other standout dishes include the pollo al limone, a succulent chicken breast in lemon and capers, and the costolete di agnello, grilled lamb chops marinated in olive oil, rosemary, and thyme.
